All those variables could or, probably, already have left you feeling like this just might be a little too much effort. Worry not! Below I’ve compiled a list of the best gaming chairs for big guys within all the price & size ranges. It’s got their pro’s, con’s and everything else you should know about them.

The Very Best Gaming Chair for Big Guys (In My Opinion)

DXRacer Racing Series DOH/RV001/NB

But before that.. If I was made to choose what the very best gaming chair for big guys is, I’d have no choice but to go with Racing Series DOH/RV001/NB. Racing Series chairs are the most popular series DXRacer have. However, being able to handle people up to 6’1″ and 250lbs, this particular model serves to fill the gap between King Series and normal Racing Series chairs. Majority of the “bigger” gamers fit this exact category and that is why this model became a sanctuary to those who didn’t properly fit in either normal Racing Series or King Series chairs. If you want to go a little more in-depth – read on or hop to Nr. 11 for the complete evaluation of DOH/RV001! Or

Being the creators of the racing-seat style gaming chairs, DXRacer never disappoint with their products. Tank Series TS30 is no different. It has everything a gamer would possibly need to comfortably play games 24 hours straight for only-god-knows how many years. TS30 can handle users up to 450lbs and 6’7”. In order to get the most out of this chair, the user (recommended) sizes should be around 425lbs and 6’1”-6’6”. Note: It will feel firm (not comfortable) if you are way below the recommended weight level.

The Good / It’s very comfortable even for long sessions; Extremely sturdy and holds up well for many years; Has many adjustable functions that enhance healthiness and comfort levels; Every mechanism performs very well; Very healthy, also protects the user from any possible issues caused by sedentary lifestyle; It’s very easy to use, and the assembly is very simple if you decide to follow the instructions; The quality of the cover materials is extremely good; Stitching is brilliant; Quality of all the parts made by DXRacer are top-notch; Value you get for the price is great!

The Not so Good / Doesn’t have the tilt angle lock mechanism (can’t lock in at a degree of your choice while reclined); Cleaning can be tedious because of the strong mesh cover; Gas lift is made by third party manufacturers, meaning it can be easily replaced but isn’t 100% reliable (years-wise); The price is certainly nothing to sneer at.

Overall / If the user is one of the biggest kinds of people, this chair is definitely for them. It might be expensive, but you can’t regret buying it. It’s made to be as comfortable for big people as smaller ones are to smaller people. Handles big weights without any trouble and this is probably as far as you can comfortably go if you weigh up to 450lbs. Simply the best heavy duty gaming chair for really big and tall, on the market.

Boss Series BF120 are almost exactly the same as Tank Series TS30 except they are designed to fit office aesthetics more. This model sacrificed some of its height capacity but is otherwise just as brilliant as the model above. The max user size for this one is 450lbs and 6’4” but you’d be most comfortable at 400lbs and 6’ – 6’2”.

Good / Extremely comfortable for long sit-downs; Very sturdy and lasts many years; Has many adjustable functions and extras that help maintain the user’s health and increase the comfort levels; The performance is very good; Really healthy and will prevent any injuries caused by sedentary lifestyle; Very easy to use and assembly is very straightforward provided that the official instructions are followed right; Cleaning is very simple since the cover material is smooth; Quality of the materials and parts is top-notch; Compared to other big-name chairs, the value for the price is really good.

Not so Good / Does not have tilt angle lock mechanism; Really pricey; Tilt performance can seem unstable if you don’t know about the mechanisms installed.

Overall / Not enough words in the dictionary to praise it. Really well made and will surely last years. It lacks a single comfort function other chairs below this weight level have but there aren’t any other office chairs that can do what this one does at its capacity. For a really big person only real choices are either BF120 or Tank Series above. None of which are regrettable buys. Worth every penny! Just great!

GalaxyXL by SKYLAB, just recently was a new chair in the game. It’s a great seat for many body types, and it handles big people fairly well. More importantly, however, it doesn’t cost much at all. The max user sizes are 485lbs and ~6’7”, although my recommendation (for best longevity) would be around 330lbs.

Good / The performance is good as far as the main functions go; For the price it lasts pretty long; It’s fairly comfortable for big people and is ok to use for long gaming sessions; Has a tilt mechanism that locks in (not reclining); Its base design is ergonomic, so it’s fairly healthy if the user sits in it correctly; Easy to clean and functions are easy to use; The quality of the cover materials used is alright; Stitching looks clean too; Value for the price – perfect;

Not so Good / Armrests don’t lock into place when adjusted; Shouldn’t be expected to hold up forever or without any troubles; Doesn’t have many adjustable extra features that help with comfort and health; Assembly instructions are not very clear; The frame and the base don’t seem too durable.

Overall / For a really big guy looking for an affordable chair – this is the ONLY choice. For the price paid, people receive much more than bargained for. There isn’t many deals that can be taken to beat this one. If we are talking the best bang for the buck – this might just be it. Although it does have some noteworthy cons, they simply do not outweigh the pros and what it costs to get them!

DXRacers are famous for making each of their series fit a certain range of sizes. Sentinel Series SJ08 is aimed mostly at tall people. This model has everything anyone could possibly ask for from a gaming chair. It’s made to fit people up to 350lbs and 6’6”. Recommended sizes for the most comfort are 325lbs and 6’ – 6’5”.

Good / Holds up very well and is smooth in action in every aspect of it; Lasts years; Extremely sturdy (metal base and frame) – for it to break it would have to be intentional; Very comfortable for long gaming sessions, made of breathable material; Has many adjustable features and extras that help with comfort and health; Also has tilt lock mechanism, which means it can be locked in at any desirable reclining degree; Couldn’t be any healthier – prevents sedentary lifestyle health complications; Easy to use and assembling it is simple; Easy to clean; The quality is top-notch – nothing to add.

Not so Good / Although well-treated, cover material isn’t strong-mesh/fabric (extremely durable); Has 3D adjustable armrests instead of the most recent 4D ones.

Overall / Just great. For people that are big in the height department – this is the pick. Although it does tax the wallets hard, buyers can’t go wrong with it. It simply has everything a gamer could possibly ask for, especially a tall one. One of the greatest big and tall gaming chairs. SJ80 has considered everything there is to consider. It should be at the top of the list of dream chairs for people who fit the described size.

AKRacing could be considered the only brand to stand up to DXRacers in their racing style gaming chairs. The only difference? Unlike DXRacers, AKRacing chairs aren’t actual, certified, racing seats. Despite that, many say that they find this chair even more comfortable than any of the DXRacers or Herman Miller chairs. However, AKRacing frames are a little weaker. Weaker.. but still strong enough to be backed by a 10-year frame warranty! Pro-X Series is fit for people up to 330lbs and around 6’5”.

Good / Very sturdy and lasts very long too; Smooth in action at both the ground and all it’s other mechanisms; Very comfortable, especially to those who like the angle of the bottom seat (which is a little different than normal for gaming chairs); Has many features that enhance comfort and health levels; Very healthy, keeps the body’s stress levels to the minimum and helps in preventing any future issues; Easy to use and clean; The assembly doesn’t seem to be complicated; Overall quality of the parts and materials is very good.

Not so Good / Doesn’t have tilt angle lock mechanism; Plastic parts are not very strong.

Overall / Although I wish I could’ve, I couldn’t bring myself to rate it anywhere below five. A beautiful chair made by beautiful people for beautiful people. I love it and so do everyone else who has tried sitting in it. It does not have the reclining lock mechanism but that just can’t outweigh everything else it has to offer and stop me from rating it 5. Too comfortable.

S-Line SL2000 is a mid-price gaming chair for bigger people. It is made to handle people up to 330lbs and fit everyone below like a glove.

Good / Performance is mostly alright; Fits big guys like a glove; Really comfortable; Has everything necessary (height adjustable armrests too) to be considered very healthy; Very easy to assemble given that the instructions are followed carefully; Cleaning isn’t tedious; Metal frame and base – pretty sturdy; Very good value for the price.

Not so Good / Doesn’t last as many years as the other top chairs do; Does not have too many adjustable functions that enhance comfort levels; The quality of some of the parts seems lacking; PVC leather cover doesn’t seem to be top quality.

Overall / It’s a good, comfortable and healthy solution for bigger people. However, it doesn’t seem to last very long. Therefore, I couldn’t recommend it as a permanent solution to all the peoples’ seat problems. But for someone in a hurry who wants to enjoy what the best gaming chairs have to offer bigger people – this might be what they are looking for.

Herman Miller Aeron chairs were the main chairs that all the gamers referred to back when racing seats weren’t around. Herman Miller is likely the most famous healthy, sturdy and adaptable, office-chairs-carrying brand. They are very well-known for their sturdy and comfortable chairs. Their good name is what makes the gamers feel safe buying them. Only problem – they are extremely expensive. Classic Aeron C size is made for people up to 300lbs and 6’6”.

Good / All of the functions and mechanisms are smooth in action and hold up perfectly; The chair lasts years; Very comfortable; Very healthy, prevents any sedentary lifestyle health complications; Has all the adjustable features to be considered as healthy as it gets; Adjusts to body types; Easy to use and easy to assemble if bought disassembled; Cleaning it isn’t much of a problem; The quality all around is top-notch, nothing to add.

Not so Good / Doesn’t have many comfort features that gaming chairs have; Attachable headrest must be bought separately.

Overall / This is the definition of quality. Although it doesn’t have all the luxury comfort functions that most of the competing chairs have, no one can go wrong with this one if they are looking for quality. It’s healthy, comfortable and lasts many years. One of the best all-time heavy duty gaming chairs. Or perhaps – the very best.

King Series KS06 is another DXRacer chair for above-average sized people. This model, too, has everything you could ask for from a chair. It will get anyone through their gaming sessions in comfort and health. A brilliant chair with nothing to add. KS06 is made for people up to 300lbs and 6’2”. To get the most out of it, users’ size should be around 275lbs and 5’9” – 6’2”.

Good / Smooth in action in every aspect of the chair; Longevity is that of an actual car seat; Very comfortable and has many extra features that add to your comfort; Has many (every possible) adjustable functions that make you comfortable in any situation; Extremely healthy; Easy to use and clean; Assembly is simple and it comes partially assembled; Quality is everything anyone could ever ask for; The frame and the base are made from metal; The casters it has are PU – extremely durable and smooth (like in many other DXRacer chairs); Places under the most stress are covered in PU (durable); Value for the price is just great.

Not so Good / Armrests are hard; Some people might not like this chair putting them into a correct sitting posture; Assembling it can be difficult if you are alone.

Overall / Incredibly tough and comfortable chair if the recommended size guidelines are followed. Almost no real cons to speak of. Probably one of the most popular gaming chairs for big guys to have been made. Comfortable, durable, smooth, healthy – owners of decently sized wallets should seriously consider KS06.

OPSEAT Master Series is below-average price level seat for a bigger person. It can handle a big person up to 300 lbs but it isn’t made to last very long. It’s a good, entry-level, gaming chair for big guys. One that doesn’t hurt wallets all too much.

Good / Performs very well for a chair in this price bracket; Has casters that lock in place; Fairly sturdy (with metal base and frame); Surprisingly comfortable; Most of the necessary comfort and health functions are present; Very healthy, usable even for a person with past injuries; The assembly isn’t tedious and neither is cleaning; Very good value for the price.

Not so Good / Can’t be expected to last many years; Not too durable; Although it has metal parts they aren’t built to withstand heavy impacts and are not very durable in general.

Overall / If someone wants an entry-level gaming chair that trades off some of its longevity for luxurious features, they are thinking of an OPSEAT. Master Series 2018 is sturdy enough to handle up to 300lbs and is very comfortable. Its lifetime is questionable, but the price paid to get all the luxuries is worth the trade-off.

Iron Series IS166 is a seat made for above-average guys. IS166 was designed to fit office standards more than those of a gaming room. However, it has everything needed to enjoy one’s gaming time comfortably 24 hours a day for many years. This particular model by DXRacer is made to fit users up to 275lbs and lower than 6’2”. The recommended size for the best experience is around 250lbs and 5’9” – 6’1”.

Good / Lasts years; Extremely sturdy – metal base and frame; Very comfortable for long gaming sit-downs, made of breathable material; Has many adjustable features and extras that help with comfort and health; Holds up very well and is smooth in action in every aspect of it; Has a tilt lock mechanism, which means that it can be locked in at any desirable reclining degree; Couldn’t be any healthier – prevents sedentary lifestyle health complications; Easy to use and assembly is simple; Easy to clean; The quality is just top-notch, nothing to add.

Not so Good / Really none; The only cons that could be found are subjective;

Overall / One of the greatest chairs for this range of sizes. It is very comfortable and really healthy. Will get through years of butts straining against it. It’s a luxurious quality buy that can hardly be improved much. The price could use some improvements. Nonetheless, it’s one of the two best gaming chairs at this range – IS166 or King Series above.

Good / Adjustable padded armrests; Quite comfortable; Looks pretty good.

Not so Good / Not extremely durable; Control panel plastic seems to be somewhat cheap.

Overall / Great chair for gaming for someone bigger and into consoles. Especially if what they’re looking for is sound quality and comfort.

Bigger size – bigger price

coin1

Fortunately, not all gaming chair manufacturers forgot that there are gamers bigger in size than average. Although chairs built to accommodate bigger people are usually more expensive – it shouldn’t come as a surprise. These seats have to be much tougher to be able to handle a huge person and still function as they normally do. They have to be bulkier, much more durable and extra well-padded so they remain comfortable even if you weigh more. Base qualities aside, they must still let you enjoy all the features that make high-end chairs attractive.

Important factors to consider.

Some gaming chairs fit most people and satisfy all their needs alike. Unfortuantely, this isn’t how it is for big and tall guys. A bigger person needs to consider many more things before jumping headfirst into buying the seat he’s been eyeing for a while. After all, it’s a bit more expensive too.

Things to rate the best big and tall gaming chair by are:

  • Durability;
  • Performance;
  • Quality;
  • Comfort;
  • Healthiness;
  • Ease of Use & Assembly;
  • Buyers’ Ratings;
  • Functions;
  • Value for Price;

Durability

Factor1

An important thing to consider is how durable your selection is. You will be sitting in it, lying in it, brushing your back against it and doing whatever else you feel like doing with it. If you are a big guy, you probably weigh more too. Materials will surely have to be a lot stronger than usual to handle all the straining. Safe to say, if the materials of the seat you’d like to buy seem to be weak and quick to go out of shape, you can start considering another.

Performance

Factor2
Is also something to look into. Although it isn’t as important as some of the functions, you should still be aware of it. Performance describes how well it and all of its functions are doing. Smooth movements, silent action and similar. It’s not a big thing compared to base qualities but it is still worth a thought.

Quality

Factor3

Just like with all the products, quality is the most important thing. If it breaks down fast, don’t matter how good it looked or how fancy it was. Needless to say, bad quality of materials, mechanics and parts is just a no. If you see anything that suggests it might not be good – don’t buy it.

Comfort

Factor4
Comfort is, of course, just as important as is quality. If you are a big guy, or otherwise, it just has to be comfortable. No way around it. There’s just no point in paying money for something you don’t want to sit in. No comfort – no buy.

Healthiness

Factor5
Healthiness is another thing to consider. Sitting in poor positions doesn’t affect shorter and lighter people as much as it does bigger people. A chair of a bigger user must be healthy. There has been proof that most complications caused by sedentary lifestyles is because of the chair’s poor build. Neck issues, wrist issues, back pains – if your chair isn’t ergonomic and doesn’t pay that little extra detail to your health – you are asking for complications.

Ease of Use & Assembly

factor6
Ease of use & assembly is one of the less important matters but still part of the rating. It describes how easy it is to use and assemble (“Duh!” I hear you say). Using chair’s functions, cleaning, storing, moving and assembling it. Pretty self-explanatory.It might be worth your time to consider before buying. You might end up saving yourself a headache or two.

Here is a video of a DXRacer chair being assembled.. sometimes it can be tricky too:

Buyers’ Ratings

factor7
It’s always good to check others’ experience with the product you are planning to buy. Although not always accurate, it sums up how others feel about it. It shouldn’t be the first thing you look at when buying but still important to consider.

Functions

factor8
Metric for how many functions and how useful they are. It’s a really simple metric used to measure just how fancy your chair is!

Value for Price

factor9
Value for Price is what all of it comes down to for budget buyers. Expensive chair of great overall quality? Cheap chair but overall quality is bad? It’s the rating weighing all the pros against the price. The higher the rating the better.

Why you SHOULD try to buy a chair with recommended size close to your own.

recommended size chart
The truth with pricey seats is that they are mostly fit to be comfortable for users who are close to their recommended size. Each of the expensive chairs is tailored to match that recommended gap so the buyer gets the most comfort out of it. Meaning that even if you do fit in that over-sized chair – the farther you are from the size limit, the less comfortable it will be.

Here’s why:

Lacking weight.

The density of the foam used in the seats is calculated to be firm enough/comfortable for people near the recommended size. If you are way below the weight limit it is likely going to be a bit too tough for you.

Another issue posed by the lack of weight would be that you’d need greater force to use some, and perhaps most, of the functions. Rocking, tilting and reclining might become quite hard to achieve – even with the adjustable tension controls.

Lacking height.

Not being tall enough for the chair might result in: 1. You, not being able to reach the top of the backrest; 2. The integrated lumbar support forms mismatching your own. All of that means simply not achieving wanted comfort levels and possibly even sacrificing some of the health benefits of the chair.

Backrest aside, the bottom seat can be too long as well. What in turn means that the point your knees bend could be short of the seat end-point. Not. Comfortable.

Another problem would be reaching the controls for some of the functions of the chair. Needless to say, you wouldn’t be able to do it.

Too tall, too heavy.

This one should be plenty obvious. Unlike what you might think, some of the chairs, of which you are above the limit for, will still hold pretty well. Why? Because they usually have some weight safety margin so that the users can go a few pounds above, should the necessity arise. However, too much weight is going to break it. Aside the frames and bases, that can usually handle much more weight than specified, the mechanisms and gas lifts might not hold up.

Note: If possible, make sure that no one heavier than yourself uses your chair.

Measuring Yourself as a Medicine for Headaches

MeasureYourselfPic
Many would like to avoid this but if you are a worrywart, measuring yourself will save you a headache. Typically, top gamer-seats will have their measurements written down on their official sales page. If you think you fit the recommended weight & height but are not sure – do it. Check your numbers against those of the seat you are looking at. In most cases, it’s not necessary. However, not everyone is built the same. Taking this extra step will let you know whether it really fits you or not.

Cleaning / Taking Care of Your Seat

car seat cleaning
No one is perfect and it is very likely that some food IS going to end up on the chair. After that’s happened, some may wonder – “Just how exactly do I clean my chair?”

Cleaning them isn’t always a trouble and most of the times some warm water is enough. Some of the times, however, it’s similar to cleaning your car seats.

Depending on the kind of cover your seat has and the kind of stains you are trying to remove, your methods may vary.

Synthetic / PVC / PU Leather

Synthetic Leather Pic
If what you have is a PU, or PVC, leather gaming chair, you should be careful around using random things on them. Synthetic leather has a protective coating that you don’t want to remove. Use of bad products or rough treatment can result in a shortened longevity.

Most of the time, because of said coating, it will be very easy to clean. All of the dust and residue is designed to stay on the coating of the chair’s surface. Other times – it can become more complicated. If you have a stain that’s hard to remove you should take advancing steps to remove it. Meaning you can’t go straight to the most powerful product.

First – try a simple, neutral, cleaner. Your everyday detergent-type product will usually suffice for oil-based stains. They don’t hurt the coating and are very easy to find in any household. Applying it on the surface and cleaning it with a smooth, non-abrasive cloth or a sponge should suffice. If it doesn’t work, you should try a specialized leather / vinyl cleaner. Specialized cleaners can usually be found in an automotive store. The instructions for use should be on the back of the product.

In some cases, you might find that the previous step isn’t enough to remove the stain. In which case, the next thing you should try is isopropyl alcohol. Apply some to non-abrasive cloth and try gently wiping off the stain. However, first test it on some, less visible, spot to see if it doesn’t cause any discoloration (which could happen if your coating was previously affected).

The next step, if you are still having issues removing the stain, as your last resort you should use acetone. You should mix it 70% water, 30% acetone and try doing the same as the alcohol method above. If a few rubs don’t work, you’ve done just about everything you can. Your only option now is to call a specialist.

Strong Mesh / Fabric / Cloth

Car Seat Mesh Cover
If you got yourself a fabric seat, cleaning it will be a bit more tedious. First of all you should be more careful around it. Cleaning fabric is harder than cleaning synthetic leather. To properly clean your seat, you should:

  1. Start by vacuuming it or going over it with a dry cleaning brush. It will loosen up any dirt and/or bits so they can be easily removed.
  2. After you are done with the first step, you should mix up a solution of detergent-base product (such as dish soap or laundry detergent) and washing soda if present. Take two tablespoons of each and mix them up in 400-500ml warm water. Or. Use a multi-purpose cleaner you can find in an automotive store.
  3. Get your cleaning brush and lightly dip it into your solution. Go over the affected zone lightly and in circular motions. Then, wipe it off with a dry cloth (micro fiber) then repeat for a few times. Don’t get your seat soaking wet – just enough to get the surface clean.
  4. When you are done, wipe it all off with a dry cloth and let dry (air dry preferably).
  5. You can vacuum it again after it is done drying in order to collect all the leftover bits.
